Mines and mining areas contain a number of high angle environments* including vertical shafts. Whether lined or unlined, these shafts pose a number of fall and rescue challenges. In particular, the shaft openings can be very unstable as can the unlined walls.
This two-day course teaches students how to perform organized, systematic rescues in these environments. Participants will learn the procedures and systems required for rigging appropriate rope systems and evacuating patients. Four fifths of this two-day class consists of hands-on training.
Prerequisites: Students who attend this class must have previously completed basic rope rescue training.
