Baby animals are so cute. I think part of what makes them adorable is the fact that they’re so curious. They want to explore the world around them and soak it all up.
Part of that exploration for them is making new friends. New friends make life more interesting, and one adorable case of friendship is between a baby elephant and a baby after buffalo.
Both are residents at the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary Community United for Elephants, which is the first-ever African community-owned elephant sanctuary.
It’s located in the northern portion of Kenya. We all know that elephants, despite their large sizes, are actually quite gentle and rather sentimental in terms of their interactions with other animals. They are very social and love to make friends, and this youngster is no exception.
In the video shared by the sanctuary, the baby elephant is very excited about the prospect of becoming besties with this little water buffalo that he encounters.
It’s quite precious to watch. As the sanctuary wrote in the video’s caption, “Friends are life’s most precious prize, they come in any shape and size.”
The little elephant uses his trunk to poke and prod at the water buffalo, but he’s not doing it in a malicious way. He’s just genuinely curious and trying to get to know his new buddy – who understandably looks a little confused by the trunk.
But in the cutest of moves, the elephant even pets his new friend on the horns. How cute!
