Choose the right heat pump for your swimming pool

Do you want to take full advantage of the heat pump in your pool or swimming pond? Then it is important that you choose a pump that is suitable for the conditions in which you are going to use it. In this blog we will tell you which aspects are important.

The volume of water

Of course, the volume of the pool or swimming pond is important when choosing a heat pump. The power of the pump must match the size of the pool. So before you can choose the right pump, you need to know the volume. The volume in m³ for a rectangular pool can be calculated by applying the following formula: length x width x depth (water level). To heat 4m³ of water 1kW of heat is needed. The minimum heating capacity of a heat pump for your pool can be easily calculated by dividing the volume in m³ of your pool or swimming pond by 4.

Seasons

When you use the pool or swimming pond only in the summer you will hardly need any heating. The sun and ambient temperature will naturally heat the water. Would you like to enjoy your pool in the spring or autumn? Then a heat pump is a necessity to achieve a pleasant water temperature. Most pool heat pumps work optimally from May to September.

If you also want to enjoy your outdoor pool in the winter, you need a special heat pump. The AquaForte Mr. Perfect is able to maintain the water at the set temperature in winter to -15 ° C and in summer to 43 ° C. This allows you to enjoy the pool for four seasons.

Environmental factors

It’s not just the temperature that matters. Humidity, wind chill and temperature changes can also affect the requirements for a heat pump. For example, if you live in a dry area with strong wind speeds and low nighttime temperatures, it is best to choose a larger pool heat pump.

Degree of use

Do you use your pool regularly? Then it is probably most efficient to maintain the set water temperature continuously. For occasional use you can choose to turn on the heat pump only for use. After use, turn the pump off again. When the water needs to be heated from cold to hot, it consumes a lot of electricity. The degree to which the temperature of the water needs to rise is also an important parameter. If you want a greater rise, you will need a larger pool heat pump as it will make the water temperature rise faster than a smaller one.

A smaller pump by cover

From the outer layer of pool water, most of the heat evaporates. A pool cover ensures that the heat is retained, allowing you to use a smaller pump.
