Introduction

A buttweld pipe fitting is intended to be welded on-site to join pipes and allow for changes in direction, pipe diameter, branching, and end. This pipe fitting then improves a system for transporting liquids (oil, gas, steam, chemicals) over short or long distances in a safe and efficient manner.

All butt welds appear in different dimensions, shapes, and sizes. Butt-welded Pipe fittings offer many advantages compared to threaded and socket weld fittings. The later ones are only available up to 4-inch nominal size whereas butt weld fittings are available in sizes from ½” to 72”.

1. Butt Weld Long Radius 90 Degree Elbow:

In a butt weld piping system, a butt-weld long radius 90-degree elbow is utilized for a 90-degree turn on piping. Because of its minimal pressure drop, long radius elbows are preferred.

2. Butt Weld Short Radius 90 Degree Elbow:

When the room is limited, butt weld short radius 90-degree elbows are preferable. They can be reduced to a lesser degree if necessary for piping arrangements.

3. Butt Weld Long Radius 45 Degree Elbow:

In a butt weld piping system, a butt weld long radius 45-degree elbow is utilised for 45-degree turn on piping. Because of its minimal pressure drop, long radius elbows are favoured.

4. Butt Weld Long Radius Reducing Elbow

When there is a space constraint, they are utilised sparingly. A straight elbow with a butt weld reducer is usually utilised.

5. Butt Weld Straight Crosses

Tees and not crosses are preferable for economy, availability, and to reduce the number of components in inventory, except where space is limited, such as in maritime piping or refurbishment work.

9. Butt Weld Concentric Reducer:

10. Butt Weld Eccentric Reducers:

These are commonly used in place of concentric reducers in horizontal pipework since they retain the bottom of the pipe unmodified.

11. Butt Weld Caps:

On pipe racks, these are used to close the pipe ends. At the bottom of condensate drip legs, they're also used.

12. Butt Weld Short Radius Returns:

Heating coils, tank vents, and other structures use 180-degree returns. Long radius returns result in the least amount of pressure decrease.

12. Lap Joint Stub End:

When piping is made with a pricey material, such as stainless steel, they are employed. This stub end has a thick flange that slips. A less expensive material, such as carbon steel, can be used for the flange.
