Do you use the same chairs for wedding ceremony for reception?

07 Dec.,2023

I'm getting married at a nature center, and renting chairs from them for the ceremony and reception, which are taking place about 100 yards apart. I'm wondering if it's possible to reuse chairs, or if I should plan to rent two sets (one for ceremony, one for reception).

I'd like to reuse, but I'm not sure how to go about moving them from one place to another. Have everyone take their own? Pay a few of the teenagers in attendance to move them all? Somehow hire someone else to move them?

If we rent another set, it will cost about $250. We have to clean up at the end of the night, so it also means more work at break down time.

We're not hiring a DOC, and our venue staff person won't help with this kind of thing. I'd rather throw a little money (like, $200ish, so not the cost of a DOC) then ask guests to help, but I'm not sure what options are.

What would you recommend? Or, others who've had fairly low key / DIY weddings--how did you handle this?

I am having my wedding--ceremony, reception, all of it--in my sister's back yard.

It's huge, with plenty of room.  I'm expecting 150+ guests, and my question is this:  After the ceremony, should I have guests move their chairs to the reception area?  Some of them are older and weaker...but I suppose someone else could carry chairs for them.

Any suggestions?
