Walocel® CRT-A - Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose

Walocel® CRT A - Cellulose Gum is the series of high-purity sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) products supplied by Wolff Cellulosics to the food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals industries.

With a guaranteed degree of purity of at least 99.5%, Walocel® CRT A - Cellulose Gum meets all regulatory requirements for use in foodstuffs, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

Walocel® CRT A - Cellulose Gum is produced in compliance with GMP guidelines and is certified accordingly. All Walocel® CRT A - Cellulose Gum products are manufactured in accordance with a HACCP concept.

Walocel® CRT A - Cellulose Gum can be defined by:

  • The viscosity of its aqueous solutions,
  • The average degree of substitution (DS) of carboxyl groups and
  • Its’ granulometry, i.e. particle size or grain size.

Walocel® CRT A - Cellulose Gum is high-purity sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. CMC is a cellulose-based anionic polymer which is soluble in either hot or cold water.

Properties of Walocel® CRT-A – Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose

Walocel® CRT A - Cellulose Gum products are:

  • White to slightly yellowish powders or granulates
  • Physiologically inert
  • Of maximum purity
  • Microbe-free
  • Neutral taste and smell
  • Completely soluble

The product range comprises viscosity from 30 mPa·s up to 60,000 mPa·s as a 2% aqueous solution. This corresponds to 30 mPa·s as a 2% solution up to 2000 mPa·s as a 0,5% solution.

Applications of Walocel® CRT-A - Sodium Carboxymeythyl Cellulose

Used in aqueous systems in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics sector, Walocel® CRT A - Cellulose Gum is ideal for:

  • Stabilising
  • Binding
  • Thickening
  • Emulsifying
  • Suspending
  • Absorb or retain water

Walocel® CRT A - Cellulose Gum films are resistant to oils, fats and organic solvents. By using Walocel® CRT A - Cellulose Gum you can precision-regulate the rheological (flow) properties of your application system, and therefore ensure that it performs perfectly in the actual processing conditions.

Walocel CRT – Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose

Walocel® CRT was developed for technical applications. Walocel® CRT has a minimum degree of purity of 98%.

Apart from standard powder grades, this product line also includes Walocel® CRT.PV grades with delayed solubility.
