How do you reuse lipstick tubes?

14 Apr.,2024

Hello everyone. Sorry for not being active last month. I was under a huge work pressure. 😦 Hopefully I will be able to post new articles from this month onward.

So my today’s topic is about lipstick, especially the leftovers. All of us have had that one favorite lipstick that we have had to throw out because it was almost empty. These days’ makeup products are so costly that we can’t afford to waste a single ounce of it. As I know a good long lasting lipstick costs around 500/- to 1000/- bucks minimum. Well, from now on DON’T THROW OUT THE LEFTOVERS!! I am here to share with you guys 2 really quick and easy DIY methods to use our leftover lipsticks. 🙂

You Will Need:

  • Old leftover lipstick tubes with some left in them(I am here using 2 Avon lipstick from simply pretty range)
  • Small empty cosmetic pots (here I am using a old empty eyeshadow palette and a empty lip balm tub)
  • Vaseline Petroleum Jelly
  • Rubbing alcohol (to sanitize everything)

Apart from these you will also going to need a scrapper (to scoop up the product. Here I am using my old nail shaper), a spoon, a candle and a match box(to lit up the candle).

DIY #1: Make your own lip palette

-Sanitize your cosmetic box and your spoon with the rubbing alcohol for hygiene purpose.

-Take your lipstick, scoop up the leftovers and Put it on the spoon.

-Now lit the candle up and hold the spoon upon the candle. The lipstick will melt slowly within 30 to 40 seconds.

-Pour the liquid lipstick into your container. It will settle down within 15sec.

-Before using keep it into the refrigerator for 10 mins for better result.

And yeah, your lip palette is ready. 🙂

DIY #2: Make your favorite tinted lip balm

It is similar to the previous one. You just need to add Vaseline with the leftover lipstick as shown in the following image and then melt it down.

And here is the finished product. You need to keep it into the refrigerator around 15 min before using.

As you can see the colour of the product is different from the actual lipstick colour. This is because I have mixed another lipstick while melting them but totally forgot to click the picture. Sorry about that.

Swatches:

The texture of the lip palette will be the same like the original lipsticks but for the lip-balm, the colour will be a bit lighter and the texture will be like the Vaseline petroleum jelly.

You can also do the same thing with your broken lipstick or any other lipstick that you are not using anymore. With these processes you can recycle and reuse your unused lipsticks. 🙂

So that’s all for today. Hope you enjoyed this easy DIY and let me know into the comment box below if you have tried the same.

Bye 🙂
