Valley, and it fits in my 2003 Toyota Highlander in the passengers' foot area. I was even able to clip the second bolt at Plate Tectonics with help from a taller climber to skip some wet areas at the base of the climb. I might get a longer pole in the future though. Great for Rock Climbing. I used this in conjunction with a Super Clip Blue to "stick clip" quickdraws at The Red River Gorge for sport lead rock climbing. This pole length was about right for the beginner crags at Muir
